Mokoma Conservancy Mission
To preserve our natural resources for present and future generations.
Strategic Priorities
-
Land Management, Conservation & Future Acreage Expansion – We actively manage the 386 acres of Conklin and Elklick Run areas with regular maintenance to enhance safety and accessibility to our users. We accomplish this with volunteers and regional partners to support this work, which includes forestry plans and monitoring of ecological threats.
-
Education, Activities, & Community Outreach – We offer a variety of learning activities for all ages focusing on conservation, physical fitness, outdoor skills, and enjoyment. We also partner with local organizations to raise awareness and participation in Conservancy endeavors.
-
Member Engagement & Voluntarism – We foster diverse opportunities for members and other volunteers to be involved with the organization and activities. We openly welcome participation from residents and visitors to the Conservancy trails.
-
Fiscal Responsibility, Fundraising & Budget – We diligently assure a well-managed and fiscally responsible budget to support our organizational efforts and land responsibilities. We create fundraising plans to achieve our goals for annual giving and to target major and planned gifts.

Established in 2001 by a group of forward thinking residents of Sullivan County and other concerned citizens, the Mokoma Conservancy’s first goal is the preservation of key watershed areas of the Lake Mokoma and Laporte, PA areas. This non-profit 501(c)(3) organization now manages 386 acres of protected forests and streams for you to enjoy.
